One of my very dear female friends told me the other day while discussing how low the standards in journalism have gotten that I did not change--the business did. And that's just it. It's nothing more than a business owned by a handful of mega-media conglomerates. In many cases, profit dictates content and with these guys no amount of profit is ever enough. Too many in-depth stories create conflict for the media corporations, so many have just stopped doing them. That leaves the public without advocates. We know the corporations are stronger than the politicians, so we desperately need good journalists. We the people, need to get the FCC to break these media-monopolies up so all the nation, with all it's varied voices can be heard one again. Perhaps then, reporters can get back to doing their jobs.
