Leslie, that report was so hard to read, and your video is so hard to watch. It's necessary for us to see this, though, to understand just how awful the treatment is for elephants in the circus. I'm ashamed that I ever thought it was fun to be entertained by performing elephants.

Thank you for reporting on the Ringling trial. I hope you will write more updates as the trial progresses. The public needs to understand what happens behind the scenes to these beautiful animals just so they can provide us a couple of hours of "entertainment." Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and the circus is a filthy business.

I regret ever going to the circus as a child--people need to teach their kids better. There's nothing fun about watching abused, neurotic animals sway back and forth and do stupid, unnatural tricks so that they're not beaten with a bullhook. Circuses that feature talented human performers who are their by choice--not force--are much more entertaining and humane.

Enough is enough, Feld and his horror show must be stopped. It's about time the public was made aware of what goes on behind the scenes at circuses and stop denying how unnatural and cruel using animals for entertainment is.

Suzanne

Bravo! Ringling has shielded itself through a veil of secrecy, reprisals, and money. Thanks to the gutsy work of people like you, the public is finally seeing the horrors of life on the road for animals used by the circus.

It is discouraging that people still defend animals being hit with whips and bullhooks and left to languish in cramped cages for most of their lives.
