I I agreed to do this magazine cover if the publisher would agree to show our viewers how the picture was touched up. In fact, every picture in any magazine is touched up. There is no physically perfect woman or man. Another woman, who was on the cover of this magazine a few months before me had the video editor give her an electronic boob-job. Presto! A click of the mouse and she had perfect perky boobs.
Every subject of every glossy magazine is air-brushed and touched-up. Today, the same is true for those reading the news on television. With High definition, the "talent" is air-brushed just like a play-boy-bunny. Can you imagine Edward R. Murrow agreeing to that? Yes, I hear you, I am certainly no Edward r. Murrow, but in showing viewers the "Lies of Perfection," I wanted to educate them. So many young men and women are aspiring to emulate images that don't exist. Think about that. It's like chasing a carrot held just out of your reach...while running furiosly on a treadmill. Here's what the editors did to make me look like the woman you see on the front of this magazine. See story below.
After watching this, let's talk about women expected to meet impossible standards.
Desperately working to reach the unattainable can lead to eating disorders, depression and insecurity.
As we try to please everyone, we are in danger of losing our sense of self.
